The fabulous Juergen Teller

niamhdouglas

Hi all,

Thank you for joining me again on my blog this Monday afternoon, I hope you're all well!

Today I am dedicating this blog post to a fantastic fashion and fine art photographer called Juergen Teller. I wanted to delve in to some of his work and also share some of my favourites with you.

Recently one of our briefs was all about creating our very own photoshoot as part of a group. At the beginning, in order to get our creative juices flowing, we were given a particular Vogue photoshoot. We were given 'The New Nomad' (2015) by no other than Teller himself. This photoshoot was very unique and beautiful with nature being used a lot. The background colours in these photographs were very muted and then there would be an amazing pop of colour that was really captivating to look at. This photoshoot made me want to explore his other work.

I began to do some research into Teller as I was very inspired by his work. He is a German fashion and artist photographer. He likes to use a raw style and very much likes working with colour. He has been recognised widely and has had his work published in lots of different magazines such as Vogue and 'Another Magazine'. He has also done many campaigns for brands such as Yves Saint Laurent and Marc Jacobs. One of my all time favourites was a Marc Jacobs carrier bag with two legs coming out of it. This image to me is just amazing. It is so fun and I think it shows how fabulous the brand is. I also found it extremely interesting that he began to rise to popularity in 1996 with something he did for Suddeutsche Zeitung magazine which pictured Kristen McMenamy nude with 'Versace' written on her chest in a red love heart. I thought that this shoot was very unique and different as it was done in such a simple way yet it was so effective. Teller also did another campaign with Marc Jacobs in 2005 with an artist called Cindy Sherman where he was also pictured in the images too. They were pictured wearing some Marc Jacobs clothing in this shoot.

I really hope you have all enjoyed delving a little deeper into the fabulous Juergen Teller with me. I thought I would end this blog post by sharing some of my favourites of his work.
