Hi everyone,
I hope you're all having a lovely day and I hope you are all getting really excited for Christmas now!
Today I thought I would do a fun post talking all about some of my favourite songs this year. I am such a big music listener! You will pretty much always find me not far from my earphones. For me, music really relaxes me and I think it can be such a mood booster! I thought I would share some of the songs I have been fond of.
One of the first songs I have loved has to come from the Last Shadow Puppets! You probably all know by now how much I love both the Arctic Monkeys and the Puppets. I literally do not think there is a song I don't like from them. However, one of my favourites is a song called 'Sweet Dreams, TN'. It is such a lovely song and really showcases Alex Turners voice. The song really lets him shine. I used to have it on repeat, I just loved it and I still love it now. Of course, I also think that Miles Kane is great and I am very fond of 'The Meeting Place' and 'A Wondrous Place' too. The genre of the puppets work is known as Baroque Pop and I discovered that this kind of genre combines rock music with elements of classical music. 'Sweet Dreams, TN' reminds me a lot of Sixth Form as I used to listen to it during my study periods. It brings back so many happy, lovely memories of spending time with my friends and my Sixth Form days.
Of course, there is no surprise that I am mentioning the Arctic Monkeys (again!!) One of my favourite songs from them is called 'I Want It All'. The song has such a good beat to it and it is just amazing. There are so many songs I love from the monkeys but that one from the AM album has to be the one I love the most along with others like 'Snap Out Of It' and '505'. The Arctic Monkeys music is very much 'indie rock'. Listening to the Arctic Monkeys always makes me really happy and brings me back to when I saw them in concert twice. I was so lucky, it will always be one of my life highlights.
I am also a big Beyoncé fan. From the dancing, to the outfits and the music.. just WOW. I was in love with the Homecoming live film that came out on Netflix earlier this year and lets just say I watched it quite a few times! You can bet I was happy when the album came out! My favourites are 'I Been On' and 'Top Off'. They both make me feel like I could achieve anything. They make me feel like a powerful, independent woman and I love it. Bey smashed it once again. Beyoncé music is a mixture between contemporary R&B, pop music and hip hop music. If I feel like I need a bit of motivation, Beyoncé gives me that kick start that I need.

I don't think it would be possible for me to do a blog post on my favourite songs without mentioning some grime/rap classics. One of my best friends got me totally hooked on this kind of music this year. One of my favourites has to be MoStack. I love his song 'Liar Liar' and I literally love every song on his new album, Stacko. My favourite song is 'I Want You'. It has a dance esc, house beat to it which I really like. I can remember when I very first heard this song. It was on the morning of my Criminology and first English A level exam. It actually really calmed my nerves before the exam listeneing to a new song that I really enjoyed! His music also combines a bit of 'Afroswing' and I discovered that this is "dancehall and afrobeats, with influences from trap, hip hop, R&B and grime.
I really like the song 'Do You Remember' by Jarryd James. It is just such a lovely song and it would be really relatable for a lot of people. His music combines alternative R&B, soul music, indie pop, electropop and electronica.
I love the beat and musicality of this song by Baby Queens. I was so hooked on this song for such a long time and I still love it. I listened to it a lot on my journeys to Nottingham for uni so it really reminds me of this new period of my life. Baby Queens is also a lot of R&b and soul.

Another song that I love is 'Life Round Here' by James Blake. It is another song that I had on repeat for so long! It reminds me of sitting down and doing uni work as I had it on repeat a lot when I first started uni. I listened to it a lot in the past too. James Blake also does a lot of Downtempo.
Now, this song is my absolute favourite! Ed Sheeran has been killing it this year! His number 6 collaborations project album is amazing, every single track is brilliant. I also love 'Cross Me' featuring Chance The Rapper. Although, 'I Don't Want Your Money' is my favourite. Give it a listen!

"The colourama in your eyes takes me on a moonlight drive". I love that part of the song. Another 'Last Shadow Puppets' favourite!!
My last favourite has to be the new release from Niall Horan 'Nice To Meet Ya'. I simply cant help but to sing along!
Thank you for reading everyone,
Niamh x
