Hi everyone,
we have made it to Friday, the weekend is in sight... yayyyyyy!
A couple of weeks ago I began something new on my blog with the style evolution of Alex Turner. Today I am bringing you the second edition with none other than the king of rock n roll himself. I will be talking to you a little bit about what I think his style is like but also my favourites of his outfits.
Elvis is and always will be a true icon. His music will live on because it was so so amazing, but of course, so will his style. I was doing a bit of research in to the style of Elvis and I came across his first live performance that he did on the Ed Sullivan show. He did this on the 9th September 1956. He was wearing a really beautiful plaid jacket and I thought it was a real eye catcher whilst also looking really polished, put together and simply brilliant. Elvis would also wear trousers with socks and loafers a lot and I think this simplicity makes the outfits all the more memorable. To me, he looked like a true performer and of course, a heartbreaker.
Elvis also wore a lot of lovely shirts and loved injecting a bit of colour in to his wardrobe. There was a particular outfit that really stood out to me. The whole outfit was based around this amazing burgundy/blackcurrant/wine colour which I really loved. The colour was broken up by a fine white check and burgundy shirt finishing the look with a tied neck scarf in this same striking colour. I thought that it was a really strong statement that really fitted with his rock n roll flair.
Elvis also experimented with different colours in his wardrobe. This sage green jacket really caught my eye. Don't you think that almost every colour looks amazing on Elvis?! There was also an outfit that he wore with a pink jacket being the key focal point. This look was a really important one for me because pink is usually associated with girls or being a female centred colour. However, Elvis is showing that real, successful men also wear pink and he is breaking this stereotypical attitude that people may have.
In my opinion, Elvis also knew how to dress in a really sophisticated and elegant way as he wore a lot of suits and tailored outfits. He would also wear shirts and chino style trousers which really brings me back to the 1950s era. In particular, the deep brown suit is very polished and classy. The right suit can make a super professional, put together outfit.
I also wanted to share some of my all time favourite outfits that Elvis has worn. He really was a true fashion icon and there was so many outfits I loved. First of all, Elvis was widely known for the jumpsuits he wore during his concerts. They all had beautiful designs, colours and embellishments and elevated his true star quality. Also, I simply cannot express enough how much I love the first photo I have included. The outfit is so striking and that smile on his face really speaks a thousand words. Everyone around him looks a bit panicked yet Elvis is just strutting forward looking so happy. You can really tell that he loved what he did and this is so amazing to see when looking back at the life he held.
Furthermore, when we take a look back at the truly iconic man Elvis was, it is not simply all about the outfits and the music. Elvis was also a member of the military for a period of time. He committed to so many things during his life and simply did not give up on any of his dreams. He was a very inspiring man.
God bless to this rock n roll hero.
Thank you for reading everyone,
Niamh x
